Hello,
On Windows 7, open up any application then pin it to the task bar. It always
changes the application to the database, e.g. I pin Writer to the task bar, but
on clicking it, Base opens.

The only way round it is to navigate to the program folder then drag the
executable to the desktop.

Note, after installing office the only icon that appears in the start group
(when you click on the Windows Start button) rather than when you navigate down
to the open office menu, is Base. So I don't know if this is linked.

This happens for all open office applications, including the office dialog where
you can choose to start a new or open an existing item.

This is the retail version of Windows 7

at a guess i have decided that "pinning to taskbar is wrong" means that when a
program,, oo lets say OpenOffice.org Writer,, is pinned to the Windows 7 taskbar
the icon for the program,, OpenOffice.org Writer,, loses it's icon and is
replaced with the Windows 7 version icon for "wtf is this".

this is not the case for OOo 3.1 but seems it was the case for OOo 3.1.1 and now
follows onto OOo 3.2

I believe that this issue is not a cricical defect, since you can launch
programs in start menu or by clicking desktop icons without problem, but it's
not just about pinning the wrong icon to the taskbar. When I use multiple OO.o
programs at the same time, icons of the different programs (e.g. Writer and
Calc) in the taskbar simply "merges" into the icon which I launched first. This
makes me confusing and misleading every time.

I've found multiple threads complaining about this issue in the English user
forum, (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26289
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28168 are two of
them) and other websites.

I understand that this is about the framework of the program, which uses
soffice.bin for the main process, but this really is misleading users. Who
would want to find his/her Writer icon in the taskbar stuck with the Calc
icons? I hope there is the way to solve or work around this issue.

I confirm
Platform:
Operating System; Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 (x64)
Apache Open Office 3.4.1 AOO341m1 Build 9593 Rev 1369110

On Version 4.1.1 with Windows 7, pinning to the task bar has been addressed on this version and works properly. But I am still finding errors with having different applications open (Writer, Calc, Impress, etc) where each window regardless of the application is overlapped by the first window's application icon. Hope this helps closing the issue!
