I did a search for this enhancement idea and didn't get any hits on the keywords
I used, so I am going to assume that no one has suggested this yet.

I have a suggestion for an enhancement to OpenOffice Writer. It has to do with
outlines, numbered lists and things like that. In other products, some of which
seem to be fairly simple programs, so hopefully the coding wouldn't be too hard
for OpenOffice.

In these products, when you do outlines they are in levels, and you can collapse
and expand different levels. So, if you want to see only 1st level entries in
the outline, you collapse all levels below level 1. If you only want to see 1st
and 2nd levels, you collapse everything below level 2, etc. And they have it
set up kind of like where you have a subject or title element and a text
element, so that if you only want to see the subject of the entry you can
collapse the text entries and hide them, but if you want to see subjects and
their text you can do that too.

I realize this can be done somewhat with hidden paragraphs, hidden text,
whatever. But I like the above type of functionality better and I am sure that
there are 1,000's of other users out there that like their outlines like this.

Any chance of implementing something like this?

That wish is already tracked in issue 3959.
