A Quick test with "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]" seemed to show everything working correctly! @antares, please attach a sample file with a connector and several copies of it. In the copies there should be each one change in the properties, and for each copy please write down the expected change in the graphic and the actual one you see. and of course, please attach a screenshot Please remember that you really need a horizontal connector to change the horizontal settings...The same is for vertical settings. sample odg with normal vertical connector (line spacing 0.5 cm)

now with additional line spacing of 2.5 cm at begin vertical

with 10.5, and the sudden appearance of a rectangle at the beginning

Line spacing settings have only an effect for standard, line and curved connectors. You will not see an effect if you use a standard connector positioned like in your document VertConn.odg (because it looks like a straight one). The rectangle in your last doc is understandable if you see how the connector changes if you change the spacing amount. The question is, if the line spacing settings could or should be greyed out when a straight connector is used.. So what actually happens when increasing the space is that a polygon a-b-c-d is drawn, from the 1st object at a to b to c and to the 2nd object at d. But my understanding was always, and that is actually suggested from the help text (Begin vertical): Enter the amount of vertical space you want at the beginning of the connector. - that you want a space there and not a line, that is, you don't see a-b and c-d. the polygon a-b-c-d
