Description zridling 2003-01-23 20:17:02 UTC
It may not be a bug, but it's a darned annoying behavior: All I want to do is
click-n-drag one cell to move or copy using only the mouse without also
moving/copying the adjacent cell. The way it works now is neither intuitive nor
makes sense. Here's what I came up with and it's difficult for others to
understand this on paper:
1. Put the cursor on C3.
2. Click *and hold* the left mouse button.
3. While still holding the mouse button, drag down to C4 (both C3 and C4
will be black) then while *still holding* the mouse button, drag back up
to C3.
4. Release the mouse button. Now only C3 will be black (and it will be
entirely black, not just outlined in black). You may now click and drag
to F5 as desired.

Let's "fix" this one, because that's a pain for the user. This is an extra step
that requires *significant* clarification. It's like swinging wide left just to
make a simple left turn. I'm hoping enough of us will rant in IssueZilla to get
this changed. When I went back to it five minutes later, I couldn't remember
which magic movements to make (I even said "abracadabra" and clicked my heels 3
times) and I kept moving both cells no matter what.

Also, let's be "different" by being good where Excel is good, and better where
Excel is not, instead of being different-difficult-complicated for the simplest
of tasks.

Priority is too high.
I guess it's duplicate too. I have a look later.

CLICK and then SHIFT+CLICK is the easiest way recently.
