Description kb0000 2010-02-21 19:29:52 UTC
after using the rpm packages in OOo_3.2.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz i get the following when starting openoffice. the registration comes up, and as soon i press NEXT-> it crashes. /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice: line 131: 21111 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@" when i try to start openoffice using the -h option it shows the help and then: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN6QGDict5clearEv
Comment 1 kb0000 2010-02-21 19:36:28 UTC
i should add this is on fedora 12.
Comment 2 michael.ruess 2010-02-22 08:32:28 UTC
Setting correct component for crash in FirstTimeWizard.
Comment 3 kb0000 2010-02-22 08:56:14 UTC
i am not sure that this is only in the FirstTimeWizard. i have now tried it on a user that had a previous ./openoffice directory. no firsttimewizard is displayed but openoffice crashes. let me know if i can provide any other info from the system, and in that case, let me know how to do it.
Comment 4 kb0000 2010-03-06 11:44:34 UTC
i reainstalled libkdeui.so.4 after that i do not get the message saying /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN6QGDict5clearEv but the other message /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice: line 131: 21111 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@" is still there. anything else i might want to try?
Comment 5 mallarj 2010-04-04 20:04:35 UTC
I am also seeing this exact same problem under Fedora Core 12 and OO 3.2. It can be "fixed" by doing: export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome before you run any office programs.
Comment 6 mallarj 2010-04-04 20:05:17 UTC
PS - I am using KDE, not Gnome.
Comment 7 kb0000 2010-05-20 20:52:06 UTC
that was very interesting, when i do: export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome openoffice does no longer crash on startup. but how on earth could i have known that? perhaps, if there is a startup bash-file, this environment variable should be included there?
Comment 8 kb0000 2010-05-20 20:52:43 UTC
i tested that on OO 3.2.1RC1
Comment 9 caolanm 2010-05-21 08:45:09 UTC
This is with the vanilla packages, not the ones provided by Fedora. Clearly a KDE specific issue.
Comment 10 Olaf Felka 2010-07-12 12:49:19 UTC
I don't have FC12 and have not observed that crash on other Linux distros. qpl and jsk: Any thoughts on this?
Comment 11 Olaf Felka 2012-05-03 09:57:54 UTC
Any ideas on this?
