Description ooo 2010-03-05 14:44:00 UTC
To be able to support language dialects and variants not covered by ISO 639 language codes implement BCP47 RFC5646 language tags.

See also issue 70181 for limitations of XSLT processors used in the build process and the resulting shortcoming of available UI locales. Note that implementation and support of BCP47 in OOo code for document languages and locales will not fix any of those and is also not the intend of this issue here.

At issue 109845 we explained the need we hvce to accept Biscayan in OpenOffice. We already got the IANA variant subtag aproval and it seems now we have to wait for the implementation of BCP47 language tags. As the Provincial Government of Bizkaia is willing to have the biscayan spellchecker in OpenOffice, we would like to know if there is any estimated date for this implementation to be done, as here it says "Target milestone: OOo Later". Thank you!

There is no estimate yet.

So is issue 70181 a blocker for this bug, or not?

@murrayc (In reply to comment #4) > (In reply to comment #1) > So is issue 70181 a blocker for this bug, or not? Not really. Issue 70181 blocks only use of BCP47 language tags when needed for UI language. This issue here is for the general implementation of BCP47, which would also be used for document content and storage where that awkward XSLT processor isn't involved.

Can someone report the status of this issue? It really blocks 88665 and 91226!
