Description vreid47362 2003-02-02 04:10:26 UTC
Writer locks up when I try to paste an article copied from IE Explorer 6 or
Mozilla into Writer. The program locked up, so I don't have any attachments.
Below, however, are the steps that I took that created the problem.

1. Open either IE or Mozilla to
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/01/national/02SHUT.html?ei=5006&en=e6134bf089ead52d&ex=1044766800&partner=ALTAVISTA1&pagewanted=print&position=top

2. Highlight the text of the article by left-clicking and selecting all of the
text so that it turns blue.

3. Right-click and click copy.

4. Open OO Writer.

5. Right click in the document and click paste.

6. The program starts to import the text and then just locks up.

This has happened to me on several occasions with several different web pages.

Thank you for all of your hard work!

Thank you for using and supporting OOo.

Does this problem still exist in 1.0.3.1?

Does the crash happen if you cut and "Paste Special" and choose the
"Unformatted Text" option?

In response to the email that follows, I have the following follow-
up. OO.org 1.1 beta 2 does not lock up when clicking edit, paste
special, paste in html format, paste as unformatted text, or paste as
html without comments. It also does not appear to lock up when right
clicking and clicking paste. The paste special, paste as rich text
formatted text option, however, returns the following
message, "Requested clipboard format is not available." I tested
these functions with several web sites. And OO.org worked well each
time.

I did notice, however, that sometimes images and inline frames do not
copy. Is this an error or just part of the program.

Keep up the good work.

Hi vreid47362,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice...

I tried this with mozilla 1.4 and OpenOffice1.1RC3 on Solaris and Writer
loops if you're not pasting in "online Layou" mode...
This doesn't happen with any page I only reproduced it using your
link, e.g pasting cnn.com worked fine...

Unswitching online layout was no problem ...

reassigned to fme
set status to new
set target to OO.o2.0

FME->MCI: Sorry, I could not reproduce this problem with a current
