Visibility of "Styles and Formatting" is set globally in OpenOffice and not on 
document level. Whenever "Styles and Formatting" is used in one document, the 
"Styles and Formatting" window will be opened automatically in any newly opened 
or created document. This is very annoying when one works with "Styles and 
Formatting" in a Writer document and has to open or create a Calc document where 
"Styles and Formatting" is not used.
Another issue is the placement of the "Styles and Formatting" window in the upper 
left corner by default.
