In the OO 1.0.2 Writer, bring up a document in Word (.DOC) format.  Highlight 
a section and change the formatting of the text to italic.  Now repeat for 
another section.  Save the file again in .DOC format and close the file.

When you reopen the file, only the first section will preserve the italics.  
Re-italicizing the second section and re-saving the file will not help.

This bug appears to happen only for italics; I've tested on bold and 
underlined text and they appear to save properly.

I have the same issue with OO 1.0.2 in Linux.  It occurs with italics,
bold, underline, and colored background for me.  It is sporadic and
unpredictable.
