Openoffice writer and calc crash while opening certain .doc and .xls..

It throws out the following message on the console while crashing
KCrash: Application 'soffice.bin' crashing...
X IO Error

Also KDE pops out an error window when the crash occurs with the following message:-

The application OpenOffice.org (soffice.bin) crashed and caused the signal 4(SIGILL)

There is no backtrace for the same.

What is the content of the KDE crash handler? The snapshot is meaningless.
Paste the text of the crash handler to a text document and attach it to the
issue. If possible attach a "certain" test document that crashes the office to
this issue. Did you try the latest OOo 3.2.1 version
(http://download.openoffice.org/index.html)?

This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated
within the last year. Please provide feedback as requested and re-test with the the latest version of OpenOffice - the problem(s) may already be addressed. 

You can download Apache OpenOffice 3.4.1 from http://www.openoffice.org/download

Please report back the outcome of your testing, so this Issue may be closed or
progressed as necessary - otherwise the issue may be Resolved as Invalid in the
future.
