Description kronecker 2010-12-01 10:07:56 UTC
Dear Madame and Sir,

Please give me a Email and I will send You two
screenshots to explain the problem even better.

In step 4 of setting up a serial letter
Config: Dear <Salutation> <Name>,
Preview: Dear Mr. Berner,
everthing seems fine, but

In step 6 it turns out that the program does not
stick to what the preview promise?

It puts the address OK but not the salutation.
Instead one reads Dear <Salutation> <Name>,

So to me it seems a bug. The program does not replace
the variables with the corresponding content?

Best Regards,
Martin

What kind of document is your mail merge letter based on? Could by that the
fields are placeholders, not variable fields.
Could you please attach the letter document to this issue? Thanks!

the issue should be easy reproducible with any *.odt document and
the serial assistant...

OK, now I understood the problem... the manually entered field from step 4 won't
be inserted as field in the document.

MRU->OS: when creating a mail merge letter, it is possible to create a
personalized Salutation in step 4. Under "General Salutation" enter something
like "Dear <Last Name>" which will be displayed correctly with the database
content in the preview of step 4.
But this field content will not be inserted into the document (see step 6) -
instead the field name will be inserted as plain text.
