Description scornn 2011-02-21 12:31:53 UTC
first found on Mac OOo3.3 asked other school districts and was confirmed to be a problem on Windows
systems also. does not happen in NeoOffice for the Mac.

when presenting a Impress slideshow you can not draw on the screen with smartboard pens when you
escape from presentation mode the drawings show up.

We have teachers that enter math problems in to a slideshow then have the kids solve the problems on
the smartboard. We are pushing OOo to our teachers to reduce costs and promote Open source
software to the teacher.

Please give us some more information about the smartboard you are using
(manufacturer internet page, product name etc.) Thanks in advance.

http://smarttech.com/
ours are 600 series but it should not matter as it is a software problem more that a hardware problem.

First of, please stop using NeoOffice for the Mac. NeoOffice is based on a very outdated version of OOO and you will run into file interoperability issues. Since quite some time, OOo has full native Mac Support.

I browsed the given Site and unfortunately without such a device there is not much we can do. Smarttech seems like a very closed profit oriented company. There is not technical background material to find. Also since there is no Software Development Kit it does seem unlikely that as an application we can do anything about integrating better with them.

For the full screen slideshow we use a standard window that is as big as the screen. No Magic. This looks like a bug in the Smartech drivers.

I agree that supporting such devices should be a desired goal for OOo but without having access to such a device there is nothing we can do right now.

Reassigned.

I send Smarttech support a mail about this issue, maybe they can share some
insights.

Also if anyone has contacts to any place in Hamburg/Germany where such a device
is accessible for debugging this may also help.

Got a reply from SMART Technologies

>Thank you for contacting SMART Technologies.

>i understand that you are having some issue with open office with smart our Ink >aware program support OpenOffice.org Calc, OpenOffice.org Draw, OpenOffice.org >Impress and OpenOffice.org Impress SlideShow I could not explain why this link >http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=117038 displays the error

>If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us again.

So looks like a template answer from a person who has not figured out that the link is not the problem.

I suggest if anyone has a support contract with them should escalate this issue with them as I think only they can fix it.
