double-arrow scroll bars on Mac

Using a 3rd-party app such as TinkerTool, you can select an option that puts arrows for both directions at both ends of scrollbars. Like this
  < > -------[============]---------- < >
instead of like this
  < ---------[============]------------ >

In OpenOffice Writer, these don't work correctly. If you click on the innermost arrow at each end, it is as if you clicked in the scrollbar area.

Cannot reproduce.
1) without TinkerTool: Writer shows already grouped scroll arrows at the bottom of the scroll bar. Those work correctly.
2) after installing TinkerTool: nothing changes. I didn't find such a scroll bar option neither in TinkerTool UI nor in its documentation.

Which MAC OSX version and which TinkerTool version are you using?
Comment 3 daveyost 2011-04-12 16:31:49 UTC
Mac OS X 10.6.7
TinkerTool 4.5
or any version of Mac OS X or TinkerTool since 2008, maybe earlier.

As I said, first this issue is not reproducible (clicking on the upper arrow scrolls with a small step back) and second I don't get what TinkerTool has to do with the scroll arrows which have the same appearance and functionality with or without this tool.

Please explain.

You don't just install TinkerTool (or any of dozens of other similar tools), you use it to set the double-arrows feature of the Mac UI.

You could look at the screen shot to see the effect of using TinkerTool to set the double arrows feature. You will see both up and down arrows at both the top and bottom of the scroll bar.

Then you could watch the movie to see the bug in action.

Why?
As I already 2 times those arrows appear by default on the MAC and are present in OOo without tool.

How?
Didn't find any reference to this feature in TinkerTool.
Describe how to set it.

Done since the first time.

In TinkerTool, select the General panel. Then set
"Place scroll arrows" to "together at both ends".
