use of named ranges

On a spreadsheet (att. test_names.ods)

When inserting a row at the top (row 6) of a range defined with
  insert -> names -> define
  (eg. col_d as sheet1.$d$6:$d$65536)

the range  col_d becomes  sheet1.$d$7:$d$65536
which looks logical and desirable in most circumstances

When inserting a row at the top (row 6) of a range defined with
  insert -> names -> labels (columns)
  (eg. range $C$5 col_c; data range sheet1.$c$6:$c$65536)

the range  col_c  becomes  sheet1.$c$7:$c$65536
which is confusing and error prone, as the "named range / label" starts in fact in row 5, even if the first data cell is in row 6. Therefore, inserting "before" row 6 (and thus below row 5) should be understood as "within" the range ("we need to insert a data line at the top of the range")

This behaviour is the one obtained with "implicit" range names, i.e. the ones automatically generated when a name is inserted above data.

The same problem arises with ranges named with data -> define range

.
Comment 2 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2012-06-13 12:26:44 UTC
getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity".
For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.
Comment 3 Edwin Sharp 2013-12-29 13:59:21 UTC
col_c: C8-C65536 -> C9-C65537.
