Description Francesca 2011-09-25 12:05:29 UTC
When reopening a document with words that had previously been added to the standard.dic, such words are signalled as spelling errors (red wiggly underline) and are absent from the spellchecker suggestions (context menu for the 'wrong' word); as the first of these false missing words is reentered in the standard.dic, all previously added words are recognised, and are not considered errors any more.
Hope this is comprehensible.

Sorry, but I could not reproduce your issue (same OS and OOo release).

Any special setup or environment? Multiple user dictionaries etc.?

Can you check if you have read/write access to that particular standard.dic?

Actually, I have tried it again, and you don't actually need to add a previously added word to the dictionary a second time, to make the spell checker recognize all previously added words, right-clicking it is enough, and all is well.

As for reproducing the issue, and possible personalized settings which could interfere, I only have a few dictionary and thesaurus extensions installed, and I can modify the standard.dic file through tools->options, so I guess I have read/write access to it... but maybe my explanation wasn't that clear, it's a pity I can't add a video as an attachment to demonstrate it...

Finally, I fail to see how this is a duplicate of bug 93358, unless you think both bugs stem from the same underlying issue with the spell-checker--I know absolutely nothing about programming!

(this was for rbircher, sorry for not mentioning it)

Reopening this as, although it might be just a minor glitch, nobody cared to explain how this is a duplicate of bug 93358, which deals with the spell checker recognizing erroneously capitalized words, while this bug is about the spell checker not recognizing new words previously added to the dictionary...

Words added to standard.dic are preserved.
