still need solaris 2.6 (even on an ultra:
graphics card from other manufacturer, and other hardware...)
why not distribute ooo for solaris 2.6 (instead of requiring 7)?

I'm not sure whether we do that. Certainly I don't have Sol 2.6 around. 
What is going wrong anyway?

what is going wrong:
librt.so is missing on solaris2.6
after getting it from a solaris7 installation,
ooo finds wrong version of libthread.so
(replacing that one as an experiment was
not a good idea :-(
well, luckily had a system disk backup somewhere :-)

discussion switched to dev@openoffice.org mailing list. 
In principle we do not support Solaris 2.6, but volunteers might 
maintain the old bridge code and 'port' to Sol 2.6. 

Closing issue for now. When the need for re-opening arises, 
I suggest to assign it to the porting component.
