Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a presentation
2. Click by via menu->Insert->File->*.mp3,Click "Insert" Button
3. Aoo Freeze

ALG: I get an 'Insert text' dialog, pressing OK takes forever.
D&D to the document view works better, creates the expected audio object. Thus, there is at least a workaround.

Checked to use insert/file for pics, does also not work. It works with other presentation files, even offers a dialog to select which slides to import. I would guess that insert/file is not intended to insert 'any' file types, but is more focused on inserting (parts of) other presentations.

I can't reproduce on AOO400m2(Build:9701)  -  Rev. 1489073 on Win7 OS , In Step 2, notice:file can't be loaded

ALG: It's not nice behaviour, but klicking on 'insert as text' is a user choice; if users do that with sound files (which are not detected as sound files) they are doing something they should think about twice. I am sure after some time AOO would come back and show something. It may even be that there are cases where that fallback dialog is useful, so I see nothing urgent to do here.
No blocker from my POV.
