build info:AOO3.4.1_r1369843

steps:
1.launch oo and new a presentation
2.input some text in the slide,and the character show color as black
3.change the slide background as red,and check the character show color

defect:
the character show white color.

Your character color is set to automatic? Then it is the desired behavior. "Automatic" has the feature, that is chooses white, if otherwise the contrast would be too low.
