Description Александар Јевремовић 2012-11-07 09:58:24 UTC
Hello!

When I try to paste some content in Writer document from HTML document that containts image with Data URI scheme, application freezes (or, to be more precies, CPU goes to 100% and it lasts forever).

This is the URL of HTML document I'm trying paste from:

http://www.racunarskemreze.com/Knjiga?Module=BookOnline__Reader&Chapter=234

I use a lot of images in HTML documents encoded by Data URI scheme. Even if this is not a practice of most of users, I think this bug will be a lot harder to resolve on excidental cases.

Best regards,
Aleksandar

I cannot reproduce the freeze.
I selected the text in main div (div class 'Content'), starting with

2.2.4. Етернет преко коаксијалних каблова

and the application does not freeze, though I see a kind of misbehavior:

* images are imported as linked graphics
* when scrolling the document, Writer becomes rather slow

It seems that the import filter knows nothing about image data URI scheme.

Are you selecting the whole web page or only that div?

I forgot to add that images are "imported", they are not displayed: on the picture properties dialog, in the "Picture" tab, there is a dog as preview, and the "File name" edit control displays "data:image/png;base64,...."

I have just reproduced freeze by selecting first three paragrafs (starting from text "Прву комерцијално доступну...") and one image between them.

I'm using OOO 3.4.1 (build 9593, rev 1372282) on Slackware Linux and on this CPU:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00GHz

Also, I remember once I waited very long (maybe 20 minutes) and I got the same result as you. However, all opened OOO windows become unusable - very slow.

Best regards,
Aleksandar

another experiment (using Firefox):

- right click on an image in that page
- select "Copy image" from the context menu
- in Writer there will be option to paste as HTML or as bitmap

- pasting as bitmap takes long, but works
- pasting as html produces a broken linked image

Same experimet results on my comp:

- paste as bitmap: works perfectly, no slowdown at all.
- paste and paste as html: waits about 30 seconds and result is broken image - also, window is frozen for about 30 seconds when focus is lost and then returned.

Maybe problem is about understanding Data URI encoded image as HTML?

Hello,

Maybe the problem is because you are pasting external images, and I think it takes a long time is to load them from the web
It is always better to add the Image physically, via Insert> Images.

Diego Valle

This was already reported earlier as bug 60272, so closing duplicate.

Thank you for your bug report and sample URL :).
