Description natuwes1968 2012-12-05 18:12:45 UTC
Also for Win7HP. When not using the mouse pointer/cursor whilst typing any text in Calc, but with the pointer visible within the spreadsheet or the document, it often happens that the text entered will not be put in the correct place but directly below the pointer. E.g.: when I type something in cell A1 in Calc but the pointer floates above cell B3, it is most likely that the text will be put in B3, even when not selected. In Writer, when I have e.g. five lines of text and want to type at cursor in line six, when the pointer floates above line two but has not selected the line, the text is most likely to be put into line two and not line six.

This is something that occurs often and can only be avoided to not have the pointer float inside OpenOffice.

I'm not seeing this behavior in Win7 with AOO 3.4.1.

Is it possible at all that you are accidentally triggering a mouse click via another means? I've see, for example, Thinkpads with sensitive "touch pad" on the keyboard that can register a mouse events when typing.

It happens on occasion, even with the touchpad blocked for use (win7).
