Description Rob Weir 2013-04-26 20:09:36 UTC
Testing done with r1466899 on Windows 7.

1) Load Writer.

2) In the Text Properties panel of the sidebar, click into a control, like the font size edit control. Then hit the F1 key.

3) Help file is loaded and displays the root help page. It should be showing a specific help topic related to the active window, e.g., on setting font size.

Some panel items, like Gallery and Styles & Properties bring up specific help topics. But the new panels in 4.0 do no.

Workaround: User would need to search for a specific help topic in the help file.

This example can be applied also to the standard toolbars, not only the toolboxes in the sidebar:

- put the cursor in the Font Size control in the formatting toolbar
- press F1
- the default page for the current module is displayed in the Help

This is a bug in the underlying toolbar implementation: when help is requested, the request is forwarded to the base class, instead of triggering help for the current toolbar item (this behavior is inconsistent with the menus: F1 on a menu item opens the Help bound to the menu item UNO command).

I do not think, that this is a special problem of the sidebar, but a general problem how F1 works. Already in OOo1.1 the F1-key had worked this way. Remove sidebar tag?

The way Rob described the bug seems to indicate this issue is about F1, but in fact this comes from a discussion in dev@ pointing to the missing help integration, see http://markmail.org/message/vipcif3hurfpvrdg
