Spreadsheet with hyperlink that crashes when saving in *.xls format

Members of our development team (4-5 people) used to update one specific spreadsheet in xls format on a daily to weekly basis for several years using current versions of OpenOffice Calc.
Several months ago we started to experience Calc crashes whenever someone tried to save new modifications to the file.
It turned out that the cause was one cell with oddly formed hyperlink. When this cell was deleted, saving became possible again.

Here are steps for reproducing the issue:
1) Start OpenOffice Calc
2) Create new blank spreadsheet (menu: File -> New -> Spreadsheet)
3) Open Hyperlink dialog (menu: Insert -> Hyperlink)
4) Fill "Path" field with (omit quotes): "file:///../", then click "Apply" and "Close"
5) Open "Save As" dialog (menu: File -> Save As)
6) Save spreadsheet in "Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (*.xls)" format by selecting the format in "Save as type" and click "Save" button
7) If prompted with question "This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in the ... file format. Do you want to save ... anyway?" click "Keep Current Format" button.
8) OpenOffice crashes.

There is an *.ods spreadsheet with steps 1-4 applied attached to this bug report.

Our OpenOffice version is 4.0.1 on Windows 7 platform.

We didn't investigate this any further - for instance how this hyperlink ended up there, what other variations in link format also crash the Calc or what other versions or platforms are affected with the issue.
