No dictionary in Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Win_x86_langpack_de.exe CAB, too! Also can't find a german dict in Apache_OpenOffice_incubating_3.4.1_Win_x86_langpack_de.exe CAB Strange! I can confirm that installing the French Language pack does NOT install any dictionary/spelling extensions. Since I'm not allowed to change the Status of the bug, you will have to do that yourself Rainer ;) Confirmed due to Comment 3 I wonder whether it's intended not to include dictionaries to langue packs? But I can't imagine why. I found a 3.3.0 Languepack_de on <ftp://ftp.rz.tu-bs.de/pub/mirror/OpenOffice.org/extended/3.3.0rc10/OOo_3.3.0rc10_20110118_Win_x86_langpack_de.exe> what contains "de_DE_frami.dic", "README_de_DE_frami.txt", "de_DE_frami.aff" Nothing similar in 3.4.1 de languepack. Simply forgotten? I also assume that it had been forgotten to pack dictionaries into the language packs as we had to change the bundling of dictionaries due to license issues. Thus, I think we had overseen the language packs. (In reply to Oliver-Rainer Wittmann from comment #5) > Thus, I think we had overseen the language packs. Sounds plausible. Is it simple to to take dictionaries and installation routines from the complete localized installation packs or is any support required? This has been discussed on the dev list some months ago, but with no conclusinve answer: http://markmail.org/message/4wefuo43fvnzwirm Anyway, I confirm that at the moment we don't include dictionaries in Language packs, only in full builds. *** Issue 124424 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** In this context you should consider issue 120350. From the discussion [1] argument highlights: Two notes to consider: 1. Bundled dictionaries are included with a specific legal exception. This would probably extend to language packs, but I'm not looking into it. 2. Including dictionaries in language packs would create the issue of what to do in some cases. For example, the Italian build contains the English dictionary. I may install OpenOffice in Italian and then a few months later a new English dictionary is available and I update the dictionary. Then I decide to install the English language pack that still has the old dictionary. Contra argument for 2) This is really not a valid argument. Even for the very few users that would install a language pack months after installing the full suite, this "problem" would be solved on the following day when Extension Manager checks for new versions of the dictionary. My personal Conclusion: In order to do this we need to look into standardization. ------ [1] https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/f24503ebaa3f551846d7eb3598dd66e934d4d670c606d5c6bb3c9c9b@%3Cdev.openoffice.apache.org%3E |
