Description Manfred 2014-05-26 12:18:32 UTC
Open a big sheet in Landscape-Size.
Save sheet.
Open a small sheet, before saved in a size more narrow.
The small sheet will open in Landscape mode...

Normal?

Couldn't find a preference to say: Save document size on close.
Comment 1 Manfred 2014-06-13 13:31:31 UTC
no one the same problem?

Every document in calc opens as big as the last saved and closed document.
No matter that the newly opened document is bigger or smaller.

AOO 4.0.1 and 4.1, Mac OS 10.9 64bit
Comment 2 Ariel Constenla-Haile 2014-06-13 14:33:34 UTC
AFAIK the window size is stored per application, not per document.
Per document, only the "view data" is stored (current cell cursor position, for example).
The logic behind might be "the container window is not part of the document model nor the document view".
Comment 3 Manfred 2014-06-13 15:15:02 UTC
so I have to live with resize every document on open every time… ?

mhhh

It seems so; unless you convince a developer that this is a bug and s/he fixes it; for now, this works as designed.

I'll remove the question sign from the summary, the window size is not saved within the document, it's save per module (vid. officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Setup.xcu, ooSetupFactoryWindowAttributes; and framework/source/helper/persistentwindowstate.cxx)

Thanxs, now I will not die stupid.

;-)

But it would be a feature, everybody would profit from…

Thank you for forwarding it to "ENHANCEMENT"!

It is annoying to change window-size with every newly opened document.
In every other App I know, the window-size is stored inside the document…

Sorry about my english, I am from Germany at not very familiar with american english… but I give my best.

This issue seems to have been dormant for years. I want to raise its visibility, because the issue is a major PITA for me.

I'm using OpenOffice 4.1.7 on macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra).

Also see issue 91768.

This behavior was reported *years* ago. What will it take to get it fixed?!

What it will take is someone to program the enhancement, have it reviewed, and then committed to the source repository.

I do not think to store Application Data within the document is feasible at all.
The document must be vendor neutral, even if you do not share it with others, it must be open from all who support the ODF standard.

What I could imagine that we add the information to the config of OpenOffice.
However I would not add the option before we have fixed the config corruption issue(s).

this is a duplicate of the other issue.
If it is remembering windows size from close, or by document does not matter.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of issue 91768 ***
