Screenshot with correct document display
The problem appears with AOO 4.1.1 too. It seems to exist only on Mac OS/X. At least Windows with AOO 4.0.1 is not affected. Cannot reproduce with todays trunk. The problem might have been introduced with r1530312 (which would be visible on AOO400) or r1599233 (which would only be on AOO420-dev). Created attachment 83608 [details]

With current revision 1605900 the problem still appears (I made another screenshot, see red box). I seams the problem appears while scrolling immediately after opening a document. Waiting some time seems causing the problem to disappear. The following information may be important for reproducing/debugging: (1) The problem seems to appear more often with mouse scrolling speed set to "fast". In this case, the first scroll down shows many glichtes (not only within the footer line). (2) I'm not sure whether the problem is related to images within the header line, but it seems so. I tested on to different MacBook Pro as well as on a Mac Pro. The problem is visible on all of these machines. *** Issue 125440 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** There are more screenshots and information over in Issue 125440, which I just marked as a dup of this bug. I can also reproduce this behavior using OpenOffice Calc. This is a serious blocking issue for using OpenOffice on the Mac. I'm still using Writer, but it's *painful*. Case 1 : • First of all try and copy any document from Microsoft Word or any other platform which contains logos or images with some description in it. • Now if we paste the same file in the Open Office Writer it will give a blank space in place of the given logo. no logo appears when pasted, whereas actually it should copy all the details shown in the word but it does not so it is a bug. This is how I have compared Microsoft Word and Open Office Writer and have found the bug which should be corrected. There another example to prove that this is actually an error in Open Office Writer. This example is that I have tried copying stuff from the web if that works or not so let us check it : • Firstly open some page on the web which has some images and details about something. • That information I am going to paste in the writer and So while copying in the writer it stays as it is or it gives a blank space. There is a blank space in place of that image which means this is a bug in the Writer. Because if I copy the same thing in Word it gives the image as on the web but not on Writer. Case 2 : There will not be any image or logo seen while scrolling up and down as when we paste the information it is not pasted and leaves a blank space in place of it. This means that the issue which I have picked is reproducible and it is an error or bug which has to be taken into account. And it replicates the problem given in the issue. Heli Desai and I are meeting now to discuss the comment she added to this report. Based on our discussion, I think the information she provided about imported graphics is more of a replication of bug 125579 than of the present (125096) bug. Hi Cem Kaner, I would agree that the comment and the attachment don't have anything to do with this bug. This bug has to do with corrupt display while scrolling OpenOffice Writer on the Mac. One important point - it seems to be much worse if text is selected. In fact, the more text you have selected, then the worse the corruption. Is there someone in particular that could take a quick look at this bug, and try to reproduce it on the Mac? I just want to double check that it isn't something that I can fix by changing either the OpenOffice preferences or my system preferences. Thanks! Ah ha, I just discovered some key information: At least on my machine, you need to have "Selection Transparency" turned *off* to reproduce the bug. I just turned Selection Transparency back on to its default value of 75% and the problem seems to go away. It's still unfortunate that this bug exists, but at least there is a reasonable workaround. Confirmed, see several comments This problem is present in the current revision. Windows7 Home Premium version 6.1 Build 7601 service pack 1. Apache OpenOffice Writer current version 4.1.3 AOO413m1(Build:9783) - Rev. 1761381 2016-09-29 02:39:19 Sony Vaio VGN-AW170Y Nvidia GForce 9600M GT,driver version 8.15.11.8640 Set: 1920x1080, text size (small) default To reproduce: Open a new Writer document. Type a few lines or paragraphs of characters. Use the mouse scroll wheel to move up or down. The display rows, are instantly corrupted, causing it to be un-useable. Work-around: Holding the control key, and scrolling resizes the screen resolution, which refreshes the correct view. Clicking the up or down arrows at the upper and lower right, also results in the corruption. The upper arrow, causes the cursor to move down, and the lower up arrow causes the cursor to move down, which is contrary to the keyboard arrow keys which work as expected. Not tested in the other OO software. The corruption does not occur in other non-OO similar software. |
