Many times when I enter a number (even a number smaller than 5 digits) in a cell formatted as number, it shows up as a date; if I then delete that entry and re-enter the same number in the same cell it shows as a number (as desired).    WHY?    I typically enter many numbers without paying much attention, then when I look back expecting to see the numbers entered, I instead see dates! That is very frustrating & requires doing double work to correct the problem. The numbers I enter are actual numbers, not formulas that produce numbers.

Please describe step by step how to reproduce this issue.
It could help if you attach a sample spreadsheet where the cells have the used formatting.
Is this issue reproducible with AOO 4.1.1?
