Can you attach one of those documents in order to reproduce the bug? Thank you for your response Ariel, I appreciate it. Believe it or not, your request for an example actually led me to a quick work around for this ... Our .doc files have confidential customer information in them, so I tried to create an "example" by opening one of the .doc files which was saved with LibreOffice, removing the confidential information, and resaving it using OpenOffice. I did this and, low and behold, when I re-opened the .doc file again, the completed checkboxes were back. So, in short, a quick work around to use the old LibreOffice .doc files (with checkboxes) in OpenOffice would be to: (1) open it in OpenOffice; (2) re-save it as a .doc file with OpenOffice; and then (3) re-open it in OpenOffice I downgraded this to "minor" since the work around is so easy. I do not have libreoffice available here, but I do at home, so I'll upload an example of the glitch over the weekend in case you're still interested. Created attachment 85821 [details]
With this file I reproduce the issue
ENVIRONMENT: * Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, 64-bit * Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit VERSIONS: * Open Office 4.1.3 & 4.1.2 dev snapshot build * Libre Office 5.1.4.2 & 5.1.1.3 * Microsoft Word 2007 Follow-up tests: I have run these tests both on Windows and Linux. Each test has been run from scratch, meaning open new document and work with that during that test. Tests are numbered below. (p) means that I didn’t reproduce the bug from the description, (f) means that I did. 1. (p) Create form in Open Office with multiple checkboxes -> save .odt -> Open it in Libre and check some checkboxes -> save with the same extension -> reopen document in OpenOffice 2. (p) Create form in Libre Office with multiple checkboxes and other elements-> save .doc -> Reopen and check some checkboxes -> open document in OpenOffice 3. (p) Repeat (2) using .docx extension and .rtf 4. (p) Create form in LO with checkboxes and other elements, edit labels, fonts, and colors for all of them -> save, reopen and tick some of them-> Verify in OO checkboxes 5. (p) Try saving the document with different .doc formats in LibreOffice and redo steps from above: * Microsoft Word 95 .doc * Microsoft Word 97-2003 .doc * Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP .doc 6. (p) Create form in Microsoft Office Word with multiple checkboxes and other elements - > tick some and save - > open in OpenOffice 7. (f) Create form in Microsoft Office Word with multiple checkboxes and other elements - > reopen in LO and tick some of the checkboxes - > open in OpenOffice Only with test no. (7) I managed to reproduce the issue. With these specific steps, the issue can be reproduced both on Windows and in Linux. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Create .doc in Word and add a form containing one or more checkboxes; 2. Open the .doc and tick boxes in LibreOffice 3. Save it using the same extension 4. Open in OpenOffice and verify the checkboxes CRITICAL CONDITIONS: Create doc in Word with Microsoft Word 97-2003 .doc extension NOTE: with other formats of .doc extensions I had different issues in LibreOffice and all the text disappeared. With .odt and .rtf I didn’t reproduce the issue. RESULT: All the checkboxes disappear in OpenOffice - only text remains and other elements of the form, like radio buttons. The issue reproduces even if all checkboxes were ticked before or only some of them. Indeed, the given workaround from the comment above resolves this issue. Only the user needs to know about this workaround, else it can be confusing. Created attachment 85822 [details]
