When I scroll left using my magic mouse, the spreadsheet scrolls to the right in error.

This looks like bug 124191

Thanks for the suggestion. It's similar to bug 124191, however I am having the scrolling issue even at the far left side. That bug lists it only happening at column AAA and to the right.

I actually just reverted back to the 32 bit build 4.0.1, which solves my problem for now.

Have also been having the same exact problem since upgrading to 4.1  It also does this with the older apple scroll mouse (with the roller ball) Model A1152.  Extremely frustrating, basically the mouse can't be used for left/right scrolling at all.

As said in Comment 1, this looks like bug 124191
Try with a development build from https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds
Current Release Candidate is likely to be 4.1.1, so it would be good to know if this release fixes your bug.

Thanks for the invitation to be a guinea pig with the Dev build, but this is a production environment: I can't experiment on that machine.  I'll wait for the actual release.

Sadly, my initial search found so many false hits on the issues.apache.org site that it wasn't practical to parse them all.
