Description Mark Mandel 2014-09-24 13:17:24 UTC
I use Savvy Clipboard from BlitzClickSoft. Every time I copy a column or row in Calc, Savvy Clipboard hangs for minutes. Then it not only dies, it kills OO as well.

I reported this to BlitzClickSoft. They replied:

We’ve checked out what happens in this case. It appears that Open Office tries to put an “unlimited” array of data to the clipboard, thus hanging an external application that may try to use such clipboard content — we’ve seen this with Savvy Clipboard, as well as with Preview, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.) So, it would be worth telling the Open Office support team about such behavior, as they may want to fix it.

Currently, as a workaround in using Open Office with other apps, there is a way to limit the number of sells you copy (i.e. select the specific cells with the data you want and thus copy part of the column/row rather than a whole column/row).

For Savvy Clipboard, we’ve added a fix for the cases of “hanging” in such interaction — it will keep working, but it will only accept plain text data from Open Office (it won’t be in a table form until Open Office team fixes that issue with their program). Yet, it will not prevent you from copying/pasting data correctly while working inside  Open Office if you do not need this pasted to any external apps.

Our fix will be added to the next minor update, and if you’d prefer to get this fix sooner, please let me know, we can share a pre-release version with you.
