Description Tom 2015-04-20 18:10:24 UTC
I have placed an XModifyListener onto a cell which has a DDE link in it. The cell values are constantly changing but the listener is never triggered. The listener is only triggered if I manually type new info into the cell. If I'm not mistaken, this bug has been known since at least Oct of 2011. See http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-bugs/2011-October/023814.html Thanks, --Tom.

I confirm that only user action is handle by events sheet. If I assign through Edit > Sheet > Events a macro on "Content changed" event, any formulas does not trigger this macro. I change issue type to ENHANCEMENT

I understand your desire to re-characterize this bug as an enhancement request. And as I am not volunteering my time to produce, repair, and enhance this free software for the whole world to use, I will not complain if this enhancement request gets sidelined. However, I do think it would be appropriate to change the name or explanation of these events so that it is clear to users that the events are not kicked off whenever a cell is modified, but rather only when the user actually edits a cell. The difference is far more than merely semantic. The events, as currently labeled and described, do not perform as any reasonable person would expect. Thanks, --Tom.
