Instead of a screenshot, provide directly this document.
Better to reproduce what you described.

Once done, please set to UNCONFIRMED.

Did you wish for me to attach a sample document?

I would expect that reproducing this requires each tester to create the same trivial document within their own system. This is a common problem with everyone who uses Writer.
Comment 6 Swathikrishna Harikumar 2016-10-01 05:39:52 UTC
System Configuration: Mac OSX 64-bit Yosemite

I followed the instructions given by the author of the bug post and was unable to replicate the error.

These are the steps of replication steps I followed:
1.	Open Writer in Open Office
2.	Type number and “.” and write text for that number
3.	Enter and tab to create sub-category for that number.
4.	Spacing is different for the tabbed lined and provides inconsistent outline spacing.
5.	Tab again after enter under the previous tabbed line
6.	Spacing also differs for that line.

This bug might be important to customers, as Writer should be able to keep spacing consistent for outlines for future use. This would be beneficial to all customers if this bug were fixed.

Thank you, Swathi. I appreciate your efforts.

The method I used, which I may have incorrectly assumed to be the most common one, was to open Writer, select Format > Bullets and Numbering... > Outline, and then the first one on the top left.

Hope this helps.

I was able to successfully replicate this bug with Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 on Microsoft Windows 10 (Anniversary Update from 8.1)

Steps to reproduce in Writer:

1. Format > Bullets and Numbering… > Outline
2. Select Numeric, numeric, lowercase letters, solid small circular bullet
(Row: 0, Column: 0)
3. Type some text
4. Press Enter
5. Press Tab or Demote One Level
6. Repeat steps 3-5
7. Repeat steps 3-5
8. Type some text

Expected Result:
The spacing between the outline bullets/numbering and the text is consistent throughout each level of the outline.

Actual Result:
The spacing between the outline bullets/numbering and the text is inconsistent on the second level (1.1) of the outline.

Sample of Outline Formats in Writer
Comment 11 Sam Kellar 2016-10-02 20:55:47 UTC
After comparing the outline formats of Microsoft Word 2013 and Apache OpenOffice Writer 4.1.2, I found that there are similar spacing behaviours used in both for the numeric sublevels.

However, Word appears to increase the fixed-width space between outline and text as the sublevels grow (up to 4), whereas Writer appears to decrease the space. As such, the mixing of numeric and other outline types in Writer causes unexpected formatting.

I attached both documents for review.

Yeah, but try it in WordPerfect, and you will find it is, well, perfect. (Hence the name, I guess.) ;)

Anyone know when this will be fixed?

No, OpenOffice is powered by a team of volunteers.
So, you must wait a developer interested to work on this defect.

The problem lies in the positioning by tabulators.
With sublevels the numbering grows over the tab position so that the following text slips to the next tab stop. And in dependence of font and font size this results also in something like at 9./10./11./…

There are different solutions. E. G. highlight the complete numbering, goto
Format → Bullets and Numbering…: Position
and change the Numbering alignment to Right. Maybe you have additional to adjust something other.

There is no way to change the numbering alignment to right. I attempted it and nothing happened. Perhaps I found yet another bug.
