Error message when reopening Calc

1) Open .ods spreadsheet with 2000+ rows, 40+ columns
2) Click edit -> compare document (very similar spreadsheet)
3) Bottom loading bar starts comparing
4) Eventually crashes with and say documents will be able to be recovered on next startup

The two sheets contain email adrress, numbers, text etc, and are converted from .csv to .odt with all standard "data" defined columns (so should be fairly "clean data"). No formulas in them

I cannot upload the spreadsheets due to confidencial reasons. I tried to compare two other test sheets found here (5K rows, copied them to have 40 columns for dummy data, edited random cells to make them different) which works fine, the popup with reject/accept changes shows quite quickly. https://file-examples.com/index.php/sample-documents-download/sample-ods-download/

You must anonymize your document. Read this tutorial:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=8289

It is essential to understand and reproduce what you describe.

Hi,

Thank you for the guide. I have now anonymized the 2 documents.

I see that document is not a native format ODS but a converted XLS.
You have a lot of imported styles from Excel.
For me, this could be explain random crashes.

Did you have rebuild your documents from scratch and testing if the problem still occurs?
Comment 7 Anonym 2020-01-27 15:51:51 UTC
I did try yes, to remove formatting and only keep data, but still crashes.

Not remove but from scratch
You don't know if your document is really clean.
