I don't think that this will make sense as long as the libraries of beta1 are not compatible to beta2. Bettina, please have a look. Update: I can confirm that 1.1beta2 over 1.1beta2 seems to work. I specified to replace all files, of course. B2 doesn't seem to be less stable than b1, and I didn't have to re-configure for the Nth time ;) Just discovered that the 1.1 RC2 release refuses to install over the 1.1b2 installation, a step back from the 1.1b2 installer that happily handled (updated) a 1.1b1 installation. And *despite* the claim that upgrading is now supported... It does, however, propose to *repair* the installation. I tried that, got a whole bunch of "can't register XXX.dll" errors, but whatever version I now have, it still works. [Oh, and -- surprise -- I found myself with an activated quickloader again AARGH!] Is it possible that no detailed check is made of the build number? I REaLLY hope that the final version *will* install over whatever non-final version is present! RC5 again does not want to upgrade rc3 (I missed rc4). And since Win95 support is not explicitly mentioned, I'm certainly not going to try uninstalling RC3 first. Quite disappointed. I would like to see this feature as well, but not only for PCs, ie Windows, but for all OSes. On Solaris it is extremely difficult to remove an older version if one upgraded to a new OO. To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements". All versions are obsolete |
