allow highlighting multiple footnotes on one page for formatting purposes

I'm not sure what is meant by "formatting purposes" If you want change
the font (size/slant/...) you'd better update the style that is used
for the footnote instead of applying a hard format.

Please specify what you wish to change.

how do I change the style?

(doing it once may indeed be better; I wanted to apply a (hard?)
format (like one does on normal text documents) on multiple footnotes
on a page at once which isn't possible currently because one can't
highlight text in several footnotes)

There are a couple of ways - choose the one you like best :-)

Open the stylist (<F11>, the toolbar-button or Format|Stylist) and
select "paragraph styles" (the leftmost icon in the stylist-window)
In the list of styles choose "Footnote" (If it's not listed then
either place the cursor in the footnote or choose "Applied Styles" or
"All styles" or "Special styles" in the listbox at the bottom)
Right-klick and choose "Modify"
in the dialog choose the options you like to be applied to the
Footnote and close with "OK" - Done.

Place the cursor in the Footnote and choose "Edit Paragraph Style"
from the context-menu (right-klick menu).
The same dialog as above appears and you can make your changes. Close
the dialog with "OK" - Done.

Place the cursor in the footnote and format it to fit your needs
(select the whole paragraph). Then, in the stylist-window, klick on
the icon "update style from selection" (the rightmost icon). Done.

(The last is primary for character styles - when using this for
paragraph styles the whole paragraph must be selected...)

ok, thanks!

leave this as an enhancement request as you like (the priority surely
is too high).

actually it should be an enhancement

Hi all,

Issue 75031 was mine (I still don't know how this issue did not pop up in my
search).

Anyhow, my requirement is a little different, so I thought I'd post it here, in
one place.

In a typical workgroup scenario, footnotes can be formatted variously to show
different purposes. For example, cautioning against a possible problem, adding a
supporting thought, raising a doubt, etc.

In other words, my intent is to create several different styles of footnotes and
apply them selectively to different footnotes.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
