I can confirm this strange behavior.
Comment 3 carsten.driesner 2003-07-29 08:14:04 UTC
CD->AS: Please take a look at this problem.
Comment 4 andreas.schluens 2003-07-29 10:23:08 UTC
The problem: amon the global filter configuration file exist another
implementation named SvFileInformationManager, which contains hard
coded type-extension relations. But these informations are used by our
own file open dialog only. The system depended dialog gets information
from the operating system.

Its a bigger task, which cant be fixed in a small time frame ...
because there must be some desing issues fixed before.

What's Target Milestone?
Comment 6 andreas.schluens 2003-07-30 08:46:19 UTC
That's the right target milestone :-)
Comment 7 ikuya 2003-07-30 10:54:35 UTC
Thanks, Andreas.

I think it is little bit slow.
Many people must be confused and upset.
So please please fix quickly.
If it can do until 1.1.1.
Comment 8 andreas.schluens 2003-08-22 14:05:30 UTC
Sorry - but 2.0 is possible as target here only.

BTW: The problem with overwritten mime type registrations by different
office installations cant be fixed. The only thing we can do, is that
our own file dialog uses the same information then the system file dialog.
Comment 9 andreas.schluens 2003-08-22 14:07:02 UTC
AS->FS: Please contact TRA to find a way to get the same informations
(mime type registrations for office file extensions) from the system
and use it inside our own file open dialog. THX.

.
Comment 11 andreas.schluens 2004-03-10 06:05:34 UTC
AS->CJ: Because the OpenWith feature was set to the target OOLater, I cant find
a solution for that now. Please specify how it should be fixed. I set the target to
OOLater.

On http://development.openoffice.org/releases/OOo_2_0_timetable.html
"improve usability of the file open and template dialogs"-"openwith"
is a yellow row, the plan for the future.
Is there any document describing "openwith" feature?
Comment 13 khirano 2005-01-31 22:47:06 UTC
A simple question:
What is "Use OpenOffice.org Dialog" for "Open" and "Save" documents or files?
What is the benefit? With the new "openwith" feature some more good functions
will be added?
Comment 14 khirano 2005-02-01 08:00:28 UTC
One thing I didn't know and I have just been told was what happens if I paste
http://www.openoffice.org as a file name to the OpenOffice.org dialog.
It opens the page! It's a great feature.
