Is it possible to set the default attributes of drawing objects in Writer? For 
example, a different fill colour instead of blue. If it is possible, how to do 
it? If it isn't, it would be a quite convenient feature.

Yes, you are right. That's (and quite some more in theis area) is
missing. 
Don't get me wrong if I use LATER as resolution here. We have this (in
a greater picture) already in the pipeline.
