Reassigned to Falko. I will get back to this issue asap Why can't I CC my email address on this bug? I don't know how difficult it could be, but I think OpenOffice should get the theme of the window system that is running, inclusive in MS Windows, it could be awesome. PD: As a feature for next version, why not a skin feature, for changing the menu colors, the icons and the window's border theme? Only a crazy idea >=). Edulix:
On Windows, OO already gets the colors from the Appearances tab of
the Display control panel and uses them. I don't know whether it
handles _all_ the new features of theming in WinXP's, but it
certainly uses the colors. Change your window background to a
dark colour and you will notice the difference immediately. Any
text or area that is set to "Automatic" colors will follow your
system colors on the screen. (When printing, it will be black on
white, as it should be.) It is other platforms (most notably KDE
and Gnome) where this is entirely lacking. I'd be happy with
support for either Gnome _or_ KDE. I use Gnome, but I have the
KDE libs installed and use a couple of KDE apps (most notably
komba, and kcalc, which are better than the Gnome equivalents),
so I have my colors set in both environments; if OO can follow
either, it will have colors I can stand. (KDE, however, would
be a separate issue; this one is about Gnome.)
> why not a skin feature
I believe there may be a project afoot someplace or another to
embed OO into Mozilla, similar to what OEone did with Abiword.
If so, that would provide full skinning, I would think. But that
would be a _lot_ more work than what this issue is about, which is
just to get OO to do the same thing under Gnome as it does under
Win32.
abuckner: issuezilla does a funky thing where you use the
username from your email address but replace the domain name with
openoffice.org. The email is then sent to your actual email address,
even though that address is not listed. If you're used to b.m.o
this will weird you out at first, but it's not a big deal once you
know. I suspect it is done deliberately for privacy reasons. I
am adding you to the CC list (since you won't see this otherwise).
OO.o 1.1.1 take its colors from Gnome (GTK) Desktop Theme. I think this issue is obsolet with OOo 2.x |
