Part of a screenshot showing the problem.
The problem exists even with latin text. No matter what size you use, still the bullets have the same small size. I can't do anything about it. The problem is a result of the fact that OOo switches font from the CTL font to the Western font when non-CTL characters such as numbers or punctuation marks are used. For some combinations of default CTL and Western fonts, the size difference is appreciable. There are two possible solutions that I see: 1. Assume that neutral characters following a CTL run are themselves CTL instead of Western until the first Western character is typed 2. Have an internal keyboard state that tells OOo what language the user intends to input My opinion is that the second solution is better since it also solves issues 18024 and 27174. if we use the your 2nd solution ie internal keyboard stats, then what happens when you paste something from the clipboard? i think the first solution should be applied as well anyway... different sizes of CTL and western fonts in document and in font view
maybe it is something with the font itself ? i have attached a screen capture in which i set Western font size to 11pt and CTL font size to 14 and they look the same (for DejaVu Sans) at the preview font dialog window BUT at the actual document they look different in sizes ? i checked the font matrix in other applications and the hebrew glyphs are smaller then the english ones in the same font - DejaVu Sans. while the numbers a using the full height of the font's glyph size. Ariel has the same issue. switching to Aharoni CLM... both numbers and letters are visibly displayed at the same height when hebrew CTL and western glyphs are set to the same font size. so i think it is a font matrix issue. yba's first suggested solution has been implemented in the patch to issue 89825. His first solution was discussed, but ultimately not implemented in issue 16354.I think it's time to resolve this issue as "fixed". Correction to previous post: His *second* solution was discussed, etc. ... As I posted 6 months ago, this issue has been resolved. Could you please change the status to "closed", or closed as duplicate to issue 89825? |
