Description lars 2003-09-05 07:16:47 UTC
see attached file: it has 8 images, 4 on each page; drag and drop the bottom right image on page 1 downwards aligning it with the bottom page border (ca. 1 cm downwards). Now undo: it isn't undone! the problem might only occur with images which take so much space as mine that they extend up to the pages physical border. It may also be a screen resolution problem (I use 1280x1024); OOo should always calculate screen resolution independant (that is it should calculate in real world units like cm (but with minimum 4 decimal places) as it is ultimately aimed at producing text for real world paper) and translate to screen positions at the very end; when printing it translates to the printer resolution accordingly. And OOo should make sure that the following doesn't occur: loaded != saved.

Hi Lars, thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice... I tried this with OpenOffice 1.1RC3 on Solaris and i was able to undo all movements I did with any of the images... setting Pri to P3 reassigned to firstname.lastname@example.org

Hi, the problem's definitely there: screen res. 1280x1024, Win98SE, OOo 1.1 RC3 (both german), the demo file, actions as described: verify the layout is correct in the first place (8 images decorate 2 pages), undo directly after moving: the original layout is not restored

It seems to be a problem with moving paragraphs... mci->Lars: I didn't see what happens on the second page... A Workaround is to set the anchor of all graphics to the page and not to the paragraph ... mci@od: it worked on SO6PP3... reassigned to email@example.com set status to new

I just downloaded the sample file and added a third page to which I added four graphic images. I then moved the bottom right graphic of the second page to the third page. I undid it and it worked fine. I then moved some of the graphics to the bottom margin and undid it again. It seemed to work fine. I played with some others, doing the same. Everything looked okay. Then I went to page 3 and found that two graphics were suddenly underneath the added graphics and the third page graphics had all moved -- ON THEIR OWN. Expected behavior -- the D--D things stay where I(!!!) put them and not where the program decides to move them. (Reason for irritation -- this has been reported for two years without resolution or consideration until now.) In any case, the basic issue is perhaps related to the undo function or may not be. The basic issue is that the user should have complete control over positioning of graphics as a minimum within the boarders of the page.

Forgot to point out that I am using 1.1RC3, as some related comments seem to imply that it works in the latest build. It doesn't, but the problem is a serious anchoring problem and has been for more than a year. I need my pirate costume so I can go "Argh-gh-gh-gh!"
