Reassigned to Bettina. OpenOffice.org Issue Tracker - Feedback Request. The Issue you raised is currently 'Unconfirmed' pending review, but has not been updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be Closed or Progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have advanced further by checking the Issue Tracker: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Many thanks, Andrew Cleaning-up and Closing old Issues as part of: ~ The Grand Bug Squash, pre v3 ~ http://marketing.openoffice.org/3.0/announcementbeta.html The issue is still with OO 2.4.0. I don't think it has been adressed in 3.0 but a developer should be able to tell in one minute (I don't dare to install 3.0 myself ATM because I have a project to finish with 2.4). AMartin 6/7/08: This issue, as described, still exists in 3.0. When adding notes for a given slide, you're switching to an entirely new view with the notes in the main pane and the slides to the left in smaller format. This presents problems in a few facets: - depending on monitor and resolution, it is sometimes difficult to correctly view the data on the slide while in notes view - when using split screens, it's tough for the presenter to find a way to view the notes and what the user is seeing if they cannot directly see the screen as others are viewing - you are not able to edit or copy text from the slide while in notes view, making it difficult to copy particular data or info to the notes to add comments In MS PowerPoint 2000 and 2003, while there is also a separate "Notes" page, the split screen that is available in "Slide" view and "Outline" view is SO helpful when giving presentations in split screen or on projector and while preparing by adding notes. Microsoft even highlights use of the Split Screen notes in one of their tips and tricks pages, making the lack of such screen a bit more glaring in OOo. (http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getworkdone/presentations.mspx) It would be very helpful to add a split-screen ability to add notes to the main Slides view in Impress - perhaps one that can be de-activated for users who don't wish to have that function. For many who make live presentations, this particular feature could be the difference between a willingness to use OOo and not for their work. To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements". There are tabs just above slide "Normal" and "Notes". Re-opening: My bug report says pretty clearly that I don't want no tabs. I need to be able to edit my comments AT THE SAME TIME as the presentation slide. Please attach a simple mock-up to illustrate your idea. Created attachment 83280 [details]
Mockup of the idea
Simple mockup. I'm reusing the area for "Properties" (which usually shows the layouts) to add a "Comments" tab.
This should show the same content as the "comment" part of the Comment layout which you'll see if you click on the left "Comments" tab.
That means you can edit the layout on the left but you can also edit only the comment contents on the right.
That way, it's possible to edit the content of the presentation and the comments for each sheet/page at the same time.

No tab in sidebar - what do you think?
Confirmed with AOO410m18(Build:9764) - Rev. 1589052 2014-04-22 12:11 - Linux x86_64 Debian (In reply to Edwin Sharp from comment #10) > No tab in sidebar - what do you think? Yes, that makes even more sense to me. In a sense, the "comment" is a property of the sheet. |
