Description markellse 2003-09-26 11:41:34 UTC
Trying to install 1.1 RC5 on top of RC4 gives only the Repair option.
What is needed are all-embracing options which cover all builds.
After the detection process, if other versions are detected, the options should
be something like the following. The explanations are important: otherwise users
don't know what is going on.

*Repair. This option recopies system files into the existing installation
directory to make sure that the files there are correct.

*Upgrade. This option installs into the existing installation directory, but
keeps the old system settings.

*Replacement. This option puts a complete new installation into the existing
installation directory and removes all existing system settings.

*New. This option makes a new installation into a new directory.

please have a look. I don't know if we can handle such a feature after
changing to native installer for OOo 2.0.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
