Description bjoern.milcke 2003-09-29 16:35:39 UTC
Product Requirement:
Easier way to add and modify elements of chart.

Customer Need/Problem:

Hard to impossible to move or add labels of chart. Users resort to work around
of adding a text box and writing over chart rather than preferred way to add
another text element to chart.

Product Concept:

We need a way to insert arbitrary text objects into a chart. Furthermore, it
must be possible to move the labels of data series away from their default
positions.

Comment 5 thorsten.ziehm 2004-07-13 12:02:46 UTC
Due to missing resources the product team and the development decided to shift
this feature to the next target 'OOo later'. It is unlikely to integrate this
feature in OOo 2.0.
If somebody in the community have the knowledge to help Sun here, please contact
the development and retarget this feature.

Inserting arbitrary text objects is targeted with Issue 12587.
Moving datapoint labels is targeted with Issue 48170.
Arbitrary text content in datapoint labels is targeted with Issue 27804.

As this is an unmanageable container task I close it as duplicate to the first
above.

Additional observation:

I copied&pasted an existing label to get the additional label that I wanted.
Turned out the copied label couldn't be edited, and didn't have a context menu.

The original remained editable, so I swapped original and copy and edited the
original to my heart's content. Not useful in general though:
* I'd have to delete the copy and recreate it whenever I want it changed.
* The wizard is now slightly confused. The label was for the Y axis, now it's
for something entirely different and a different label has taken its place, and
the wizard has no way to know about this.
