I have discovered that when I import a dBase file that I can certainly get the
data connected to a data source. But the connection will not recognize memo
fields as being just that memo fields. It goes to about 50 or so characters &
no more. The steps of import are to use the standard tabs in sequence within
Data Sources dialog, & that doesn't work. I tried creating a new table scheme
on the Tables tab, via the New Table Design button after I found that the Edit
Table button also didn't enable this. It seems, therefore, that this is a bug,
& requires some work. Since dBase is the only native way without using an
outside database to connect without another package in a read/write way that I
know of, (only that I know of), within OpenOffice, this would be a pretty
important thing to fix. Anyone using OpenOffice as a contact manager or for
notes on invoices or other things, as a quick desktop utility would find this
to be pretty important, pretty fast. I would suggest that this needs to be
raised on the priority stack, to make it work.
