Description hin 2003-12-22 11:59:10 UTC
Hi All,

In writer, I set CTL Language to THAI. I create a new document and save to MS
Word document format. when i use MS Word XP program to open the file, MS Word XP
can not line breaking a thai text correctly. It do line breaking by space of
each string and can not change or edit a locale too.

Thank you.

Please attach such a Writer document (in .sxw format) to this issue, so that we
can see what's happening when saving this to MS Word format. With western text
this does not happen, so this could be interesting. Feel free to re-open the
issue when you've done so.
Thank you very much for supporting us

MRU->SBA: does not look like a filter problem, more of font handling in Writer.
Pls have a look.

SBA's now...
Comment 7 stefan.baltzer 2004-03-02 19:03:04 UTC
SBA: At first glance, this looks like a bug in Word because when the .doc file
is opened again in OOo111, it looks as good as in the .sxw again.
But this needs further investigation. First results:
(1) When I travel wordwise (with <Ctrl> + <Arrow>) through the first line, it is
"10 words" from Left to right, but 15 words in the other direction. This is
(the or another?) bug.
(2) Word has more paragraph alignment options.
Set target OOo 2.0.

Comment 10 stefan.baltzer 2004-05-26 23:59:17 UTC
SBA->HIN: Thanks for the patch, but this is not the case here. We can not
handle so-called "collective tasks".
Please file a new issue, flag it "Issue type = patch", assign it to
khong@openoffice.org, attach your patch and name the issue ID in here. Thanks.

SBA->BH: This is a feature request for more text alignment options (needed for
full CTL compatibility).
Reassigned to BH.
Comment 11 bettina.haberer 2004-05-27 09:22:52 UTC
Hello Falko, as no more text alignment options will be implemented in OO.o 2.0,
target is set to OOo later. Please take over this issue. Thank you.

I had a look at the patch for ICU for the nextWord bug, but I couldn't convince
myself that it was quite right. I made an alternative patch based on the code
in ICU 3.0 and opened a separate issue (#33160).
Comment 13 jjc 2005-04-19 16:09:28 UTC
The original problem in this bug of bad line-breaking is the same problem that
was fixed in issue 42909, issue 46732 and issue 46087.

The bug with wordwise movement was fixed in issue #29548.
