Description vhshah 2003-12-29 06:25:55 UTC
I am trying to print the address on envelopes (#10) using HP 6L. I tried
creating an envelope using the Insert -> Envelope... option. I entered the TO
address, formated the layout and created a new document with the settings. On
the screen it appeared correctly. However, when I print it, about an inch of
text gets truncated.

I then tried creating a new document and set the page size as envelope #10 and
adjusted the margins appriately. This too produced similar results.

If I am missing something, please suggest.

As a suggestion, in the insert envelope screen, you should have the ability to
preview and print. The user should not be asked to create a new document and
then print that.

Regards.

Please attach your envelope files and the print result as ps file. Thanks.

How do I create a PS file? Does the "print to file" option save the file as
a .ps file?

I have been able to recreate this problem successfully. Here is the scenario.

If the paper size is set to Env. #10 and the printer paper is set to Env. #10,
there is no problem and the address is printed on the envelope successfully
(as expected).

However, if the paper size is set to "User" with the height equal to let us
say 4.38" (my envelope had this height) instead of the default 4.13" for Env.
#10 (the width remaining the same - 9.50"), the address gets truncated by over
half an inch.

I am not sure whether this is a bug, but I would have expected that a change
in the height setting should not affect the printout width-wise.

Also, I did notice that we have to manually change the page setting of the
printer to match that of the document. In MS Word I think the printer takes
the paper size of the document while printing automatically, because I never
had to set the paper size to Env. #10 in a MS Word document while printing
envelopes.

Regards.
