Hi,

I have a Word file sent to me by a client who uses MS Word 2000 I believe. The
file was created by copying and pasting part of an HTML document (a text-filled
table primarily formatted in bullet lists) into Word ,and then adding comments
in a different colour.

I have then opened and edited the file in MS Word XP, and today attempted to
open it in OopenOffice.org Writer. The document renders very poorly:

* 4 page length, original was 9
* Large gaps - looks as though it is going to a new page for next cell of table
(MS Word does this too, but in different places)
* One table cell (which in MS spans several pages) is simply cut off at the end
of the first page - meaning around 2 pages of information are lost.
* Writer beeps constantly when I scroll the page up/down on the page mentioned
in the previous point.
* The first title is outdented - it appears to the left of the margin. I have
seen this occur in other documents created is MS Word.

The key problem here appears to be the rendering of cells, and Writer not
supporting table cells that span more than one page. I was able to view the
information by selecting all, copying & pasting into a new document.

I am prepared to send the file to an individual if it would help, on the
condition that it would not be distributed or made publicly available. (the
content is not confidential pursay, but should not be publicly available!).

Regards,

James Fraser
