Issue 24217

Summary: Optimal row height as a property
Product: Calc Reporter: drc <drc>
Component: codeAssignee: AOO issues mailing list <issues>
Status: CONFIRMED --- QA Contact:
Severity: Trivial
Priority: P4 CC: issues
Version: OOo 1.1 RC5
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 98
Issue Type: FEATURE Latest Confirmation in: ---
Developer Difficulty: ---

Description drc 2004-01-08 17:20:02 UTC
Optimal row heights are calculated when the command is invoked, for the <i>cell
data and metrics</i> current at the time. This is a user hostile feature
leading to wasted prints (and unnecessary erosion of our precious rain
forests). To be more user friendly could we:
a) have 'printer metric' (ie WYSIWYG) as the installation default.
b) have 'optimal' as a row height value/property, and recalculate row height
when data changes (and pagination when row height changes). The de-luxe
solution would be an option to select this way of working in the 'optimal row
height' dialogue box.
c) help files amended accordingly (further to issue 24216 relating to the
status quo)
I suspect there is a similar issue with optimal column width.

Hi Bettina,

IMHO this is more contraproductive as it would help.
