The standard file system explorer on all three relevant desktops Gnome
(Nautilus), KDE (Konqueror), and  Windows (Explorer) support a thumbnail view
mode in which a small preview of the respective file system object will be
displayed if available. By providing a custom plugin for the particular file
system explorer it is possible to display a thumbnail representation of an
OpenOffice.org file.

Is this meant to work with .sxw files? doesn't seem to be, for me, using Windows 
2000 SP3 and m54.

Oops. My bad. Sorry. problem caused by running two versions of OOo in parallel. 
Obviously won't work if .sxw files still registered to 1.1.2
