We have OOo 1.1 on Win2K and have a large spreadsheet that was created in Excel
97 and converted to OOo Calc.

In total, it has five files containing many other worksheets in it and when you
go to open it, it asks if I would like to update the links to the other files.
When I say yes, it starts to OPEN EACH OF THE FOUR OTHER FILES in succession and
they appear on the task bar. Until they are OPEN, the file/sheet information is
not reflected in the main (first) file. This file opening process is very slow
and obviously consumes lots of resources.

By comparison, Excel 97 just opens the first file and then establishes links to
all of the other files (with their sheets) and doesn't try and display them on
the screen.

I would like to be able to not actually OPEN AND DISPLAY the attached files.
