Try with Word document pointet to by the URL

www.oxieif.se/oppenofficeproblem.doc

In my version of oppenoffice.org it is displayed at three pages but it should
only be at one page.

The PageBreak before the paragraph beginning with "Heij!" must be
inserted, because a new page margin (right) is set a this point.
Writer´s layout is not capable of displaying this, so the filter uses
a workaround by putting the content on two page to prevent a loss of
information.

MRU->CMC: After Import there are two column breaks: one after the
first table and a second one in the properties of table two. Could you
please have a look into the file format, if it is not just a Word
feature like "it is present, but not shown"? Thank you.

Yep there is an actual column break character at the start of the
second table, which is why it ends up where it does. It is interesting
that they are ignored by word. But that isn't the first time something
inside a table has been ignored by word. The same thing occurs to
page/section breaks in issue 1909. The column breaks are actually
inside the second table and any attempts to create a document in word
with column breaks inside a table doesn't actually create column
breaks, so I think that column breaks inside a table are ignored by
word, so we should do the same.

I would love to know how to create a document from scratch that gets a
column or page break inside a table.

Fixed in toplevel revision.

Working in SRC651a (linux pro)

Agreed. I also tried opening a simple doc with some pictures and
formulas and it came out as messed up as the one shown in the
attachment.

Yes looks much better in the internal build 657. The fix will be
available for the OO community in a version like OpenOffice 65x.
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2002-11-07 14:55:19 UTC
Fix introduced in OpenOffice 643.
But it is not possible to display less than two pages, as pointed out
above.
